The client had recently bought a five-storey townhouse in the exclusive London district of Knightsbridge, and wanted to upgrade an existing multi-room system to a higher specification. Even though the property had been recently refurbished, the structured wiring available was minimal, and the wiring topology was specific to the now-obsolete system.

While competitors put forward extensive and potentially disruptive upgrades, Couture Digital proposed an innovative design that utilised only the existing structured wiring, minimising damage to the newly decorated walls and ceilings.

KNIGHTSBRIDGE TOWNHOUSE

CEDIA “Crestron Installation of the month" for the most Distinctive Digital Media Installation.

Our team has devised imaginative solutions to some constraints of the existing set-up. For example, to make the best use of limited space, the Crestron Digital Media 8X8 Matrix is installed inside a sliding and rotating rack designed for kitchen cabinets and shallow shelves – a perfect fit.

Limitations on rack height and depth would have made it impossible to install a multi-room audio system with audio switching and power amps: the built-in amplification features of the Crestron Digital Media Room Controller are used instead. Vents are fitted at the top and bottom of the cupboard doors and fans extract hot air from the top, compensating for a lack of natural ventilation.

Another advantage of this design was that the project could be delivered within a very short timeframe requested by the client. Couture Digital was asked to proceed.

The system’s core is based on Crestron Digital Media, which provides quick, reliable video distribution throughout the house. Digital Media room receivers are installed in every room, each functioning as a DM 8G+ video receiver, video scaler, audio amplifier and control interface.

Custom-programmed Crestron MLX3 remote controls give users a single familiar way to control all the integrated systems.

The system previously lacked cable management, and so cables from the original installation have been manually identified, tested and labelled.

Our expert team successfully completed an eight-zone video and audio system in just a week, designing and installing a reliable and dependable multi-room AV and control system that surpassed the client’s expectations.

As a result of our team’s dedication and excellent work, the client subsequently recommended us for another project. The Brompton Square project was named CEDIA installation of the month in the “Most Distinctive Digital Media Crestron Installation” category – a further honour for our team.
