Extron Electronics has announced the availability of the SMD 101, a compact, high-performance H.264 streaming media decoder used with Extron SME 100 encoders to provide complete end-to-end AV streaming systems.

The newly released SMD 101 is designed specifically to decode live-streamed content from SME 100 encoders or playback AV media files accessible from network shares.

It accepts streaming resolutions up to 1080p/60 and outputs a variety of resolutions, from 640×480 up to 1920×1200. Fill/Follow/Fit aspect ratio controls manage disparities between the streaming video and display format.

“The SMD 101 distinguishes itself from other decoders with its advanced AV scaling, signal processing, and integration-friendly control options,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron.

The SMD 101 supports the use of both push and pull streaming configurations, making it adaptable to a variety of network conditions and streaming requirements.

Stereo analogue audio and HDMI-embedded audio signals are both supported, providing compatibility with embedded display speakers or existing audio systems.

Advanced AV signal processing and control features, in addition to a variety of networking and streaming protocols, come together to make the SMD 101 an ideal streaming solution in corporate, government, and educational environments.
